Kestrel House

The American Kestrel cannot excavate its own cavity and depends on finding the larger nest holes of woodpeckers for a nesting place. Since these are in short supply, the kestrel population is often dependent upon nesting boxes. Included is an interior perch so the mother and babies can keep a sharp eye for their next meal. The house should be placed in an open area, such as in a meadow or along a highway. Wood chips are included. As with all our nest boxes, the design includes appropriate ventilation, drainage and opens for easy clean-out. Sustainably grown 1″ thick Eastern White Pine provides superior insulation.
