Mealworms
Are mealworms good for birds?
Mealworms are a great natural food for birds and can be used to feed them throughout the year. Bluebirds especially love mealworms. They are clean, easy to work with, an excellent source of nutrients, and an aid to birds through cold winter weather and spring reproduction. Other birds will eat mealworms, such as, Robins, chickadees, wrens, towhees, woodpeckers, catbirds, nuthatches, thrashers and others. Whether fresh or dried, these insects are a nutritious snack that will be especially appreciated by summer birds with hungry nestlings to feed.
Depending on the time of year, the Bird House carries fresh and dried mealworms.
