About Sparrows

There are a variety of different Sparrows that can be found in the backyard, and they change seasonally! The most common Sparrow that comes to feeders is the introduced House Sparrow. Other frequent Sparrows that come to feeders are White-throated Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, Eastern Towhee, and American Tree Sparrow.

Sparrows tend to be small and don’t require a feeder with large perches, tube feeders made for black oil sunflower are ideal. Sparrows will eat our Deluxe blend, black oil sunflower, striped sunflower, sunflower hearts, cracked corn, and millet. Some species, like the House Sparrow, will also nest in houses.
