About Purple Martins
Purple Martins are aerial acrobats that eat many insects throughout the day. Purple Martins nest communally in multi-chamber birdhouses, gourds, hollow trees, and sometimes, structures. Attracting Purple Martins to the yard can be difficult, but having the right habitat helps. Open fields and areas around bodies of water is ideal.
Setting up a Purple Martin house or group of hollow gourds on a telescoping pole is the best way to attract these birds.
