BIRD HOUSE KITS

Specialized houses are designed for specific bird species. Different birds have specific preferences and needs that determine the size of the hole of the house. These houses accommodate chickadees, nuthatches, titmice, woodpeckers and tree swallows, in addition to these below:

  • Bluebird House

Bluebird Houses are usually mounted in pairs. We carry the special mounting poles used for these houses. The Bird House also carries several different designs to accommodate bluebirds. One of the most popular styles is the Peterson bluebird house. This house has a slanted design to deter predators. We also offer a style of house with a viewing window.

  • Wren Houses are often hung as opposed to pole mounted. The opening dimension for wrens is uniquely small and will deter larger birds.
  • Purple Martin Houses are colony houses supporting large groups of birds. Purple martins depend on people for housing. The Bird House offers styles both in wood and aluminum, as well as 15 to 20-foot poles needed to mount these houses.
  • Owl Houses come in several different sizes to accommodate different species, including screech owls. American kestrels will also use owl houses for nesting. The Bird House carries an extensive selection of owl houses.
  • Wren House

Duck Houses are usually mounted in wetlands and marshy areas. These will attract wood ducks and hooded mergansers. The Bird House carries duck houses as well as special poles for mounting them.

  • Winter roosting boxes offer protection during cold winter months for many bird species. These boxes have a door underneath or near the bottom and are more spacious than other kinds of bird houses. This allows birds a chance to get inside and away from the wind and cold. You can increase the number and variety of birds that will keep you company if you can provide them with the appropriate accommodations.

DECORATIVE HOUSES

Decorative houses come in an endless array of sizes and styles. A popular gift item, the Bird House carries functional decorative houses that can withstand the elements and have clean out functionality. These houses are made of wood, recycled wood, metal, ceramics, resin, wicker and gourds.

BAT HOUSES

Bat House

Bat houses are often placed near water and can provide living space for tens or hundreds of bats. Bats are nocturnal and can eat thousands of mosquitoes a day. The Bird House offers several different sizes and shapes of bat houses.

BUTTERFLY HOUSES

Butterfly houses mimic tree crevices and hollow cavities, and are often used for butterflies seeking protection for the winter. We have simple as well as more elaborate butterfly houses.

BIRD HOUSE KITS

Bird house kits are available to build and decorate your own house out of wood. Children as well as adults find this a rewarding activity. Specialized kits are available to attract bluebirds, chickadees and wrens. We also carry a bat house kit.

WINDOW MOUNTED BIRD HOUSES

Window mounted bird houses are available in several different sizes and styles, and provide a special opportunity to observe nesting, feeding, and developing bird behavior. Our styles are made of wood and attach to the window with supplied suction cups.
