Our Staff
We’d like to introduce the Bird House staff, which always does its best to provide excellent, knowledgeable service.

John
The Bird House, which I founded 15 years ago, has satisfied my love for entrepreneurship in a business which adds to the quality of life in our community. I am pleased to be able to offer our customers an enjoyable shopping experience while enhancing their love of nature. Now that I am retired from full-time employment, I am able to spend much more time in The Bird House.
Ann Marie
Ann Marie’s favorite birds are woodpeckers, nuthatches and titmice. She enjoys hearing customers’ squirrel stories, and waits for the time when she will learn of squirrel antics that have never been told before.
Brett
Brett has been working at the Bird House since August 2006. He currently has a Sky Café in his yard which he fills with our chickadee blend, as well as a peanut feeder which he fills with our woodpecker blend. He also has a nyjer feeder and two suet cages, which are always kept filled. Aside from feeding the birds he attends Finger Lakes Community College as a video programming major, with aspirations of attending the Rochester Institute of Technology in the same field. When he is not working or studying hard, you can find him playing the drums, bass, guitar, or brewing his own beer.
Brooke
Brooke is in her second year at the Bird House. Brooke enjoys learning about bird products, working with coworkers, and interacting with customers. She lives with her husband and her little dog Yogi, with whom she enjoys taking on long walks. Brooke also has a daughter living in the area.
Carol
Carol is a long-term employee of the Bird House, and an avid gardener and backyard birder. Carol is one of our ‘Sunday Redheads’.
Carole
Carole was director of an Environmental Education Resource Center for over 15 years. For the past four years, Carole enjoys imparting her knowledge to help bird enthusiasts. Carole sings in the Rochester Oratorio Society and recently returned from an exhilarating trip to China. She enjoys birding, gardening, kayaking and spending time with her family.
Edie
Edie is a newcomer to the Bird House. She enjoys travel, gardening, genealogy, and walking to stay healthy. She has two sons, a husband and a cat, “Pooh”, who moved from southern Virginia and now enjoy upstate New York. Pooh is content to leave the backyard birds alone.
Jane
Jane has been with the Bird House for two years. She knew it was the perfect place for her because her life’s passion is feeding, watching, and learning to photograph BIRDS! She currently lives with her cat, Stormy.
Liz
Liz is in her third year at the Bird House. She has a degree in Wildlife Conservation and has worked at various nature centers as a naturalist and environmental educator. In her spare time Liz enjoys hiking, birding, and biking.
Rich
Rich lives in Bushnell’s Basin with his wife Janet (a busy mother, volunteer librarian, and part-time potter), his two teenage sons Brian and Jonathan, and their two cats, Scout and Scamp. They are avid gardeners and wildlife enthusiasts who love to hike, bike, dig, rake—just enjoy the outdoors in all four seasons. Rochester is a great place to be!
Trish
Trish has been a birdhouse employee for more than 2 years. A teacher’s assistant, Trish also volunteers her time at Tinker Nature Park. As an avid backyard birder, Trish is great at answering any of your birding questions!
